There’s no better feeling than going to bed knowing your house is clean and tidy. Try these hacks that help to organize my home every day!
Let’s be real, after a long day of work the only thing you are looking forward to do is getting home, trying to squeeze in at least a 30-minute workout (or 30-minute walk if you are anything like me!), prepping dinner, maybe your next day lunch, getting in the shower, doing your skincare and last getting into bed before 11:00 pm. As you can see cleaning, doing laundry, and organizing are not part of our ideal day-to-day things, but we need to do it either because your mom will request your help or because you live alone and your mom will not be there to help you.
For the last couple of months, I have been implementing these nine hacks that have changed my life. I know it sounds a little dramatic, but maybe the correct word can be improved! I can assure you I have seen improvements in my day-to-day after getting home from work and I can contribute the results to these habits and hacks I’ve been using.
This post is all about 9 little habits that help to organize my home quickly every night.
Effective Hacks to Organize My Home
1. Set a Timer
I know it sounds basic but trust me on this. Setting a specific time to do things helps you create a commitment to yourself to finish the things you start. Try to think about it exactly as the designated time you used to have when taking a test in college. Use a realistic time frame because if not the only thing you will achieve is getting overwhelmed – remember the goal is feeling productive and getting things done!!
A trick I use is trying to organize and declutter every corner of the house through the time it takes 1 load of laundry to wash. This gives me around 30 to 40 minutes to be as productive as possible. Here is the timer I use, I bought it on Amazon, it’s cute and functional!!
2. Time For Laundry
Yesss, you guess it! As mentioned above this is the first step we will take towards organizing your home. I swear by this laundry detergent and this softener. Your clothes will smell incredible, I swear by these two, try them you will thank me later!! Now next step…
3. Let’s Declutter
There was a time when I used to wait until Sunday to clean and organize my home, but I found out that during the week I was getting a little anxious and stressed due to the constant disaster. Decluttering daily can be as simple as picking up your shoes and not leaving them at your door, folding the clothes after doing laundry, or even picking up your children’s or dog’s toys.
4. Designate Specific Spaces
Assign specific places for commonly used items like keys, wallets, TV remotes, etc. Don’t forget to encourage everyone in your household to return these items to their designated spots at the end of each day. Remember consistency is key to developing these habits!!
5. Time to Empty the Dishwasher
This will probably take 7 to 10 minutes, it’s easy, quick, and effective. If you left anything dirty from your morning routine now it’s the time to take care of it. Also, by this time your washer will most likely be ready so go and take everything out and put it in the dryer. Now, let’s continue…
6. Clean As You Cook
Now that your cloth is in the dryer let’s take advantage and start cooking dinner. I’m not the biggest fan of cooking so I usually try to do meal prep on the weekends, but if I don’t have anything ready I’ll look for an easy and healthy recipe. Here are some of my favorite influencers in the fitness industry: The Muscle Sisters, Mesa Sana, and Petit Fit.
Try to clean the surfaces as you cook, you will avoid a big mess in the kitchen and by the end of your dinner, you will only need to throw your plate in the dishwasher!!
7. Feeling Extra? Sweep or Vacuum
If you are feeling a little extra and still have some energy, spend a few minutes sweeping or vacuuming only high-traffic areas like entryways, kitchen, dining room, or living room. This helps keep dirt and debris from accumulating.
8. Reset Rooms
Before you go to bed, take a few minutes and reset each room in your home. Simple things like fluffing the pillows, straightening the furniture, folding the blankets you used during the day, and tidying up any little mess you can find. These 5 minutes will help you wake up to a clean and organized space in the morning.
9. Practice Consistency!!
The last effective hack I want to share with you is practice consistency. The key here is building habits, if you do at least 5 out of 9 things from the list daily you will see improvements in your life just like I did.
